Voluntrees is not showing up on Google for tree service searches in Knoxville. That means every potential customer looking for tree work right now — and more than 60% of them only contact the top 3 businesses Google shows — is calling a competitor. The biggest reason? A single missing setting on their Google Business Profile that takes 30 seconds to fix.

We audited Voluntrees, a tree service business in Knoxville, Tennessee. At Tae Results, we help local businesses show up higher on Google so their phone rings more often. In this audit, we looked at how Voluntrees appears on Google Search and Maps, reviewed their Google Business Profile, checked their website, and assessed their citation presence.

How Voluntrees Ranks on Google Right Now

We started by Googling "Voluntrees" to see what comes up. Their information shows on the first page with no competing businesses diluting their results. That brand search is clean and uncontested.

For the main keyword search — "tree service Knoxville Tennessee" — Voluntrees does not appear in the local map pack results. They may show up at the very end of extended results, but for practical purposes they are invisible to potential customers who are searching for tree services in the area. The top 3 businesses in the Google Maps pack receive 60 to 70% of all clicks from those searchers. Every day that Voluntrees is not showing up is a day they are losing potential customers to competitors.

The good news is that this also means there is significant room for growth. The gaps we found are substantial but every one of them is fixable.

Voluntrees Google Business Profile Review

The single biggest finding in this entire audit is that Voluntrees does not appear to have a GBP category set. This is critical. The category is one of the most important ranking signals in Google's local algorithm — it tells Google what the business does and which searches to show it for. Without a category, Google has no clear instruction on when to display Voluntrees in search results. Every other tree service we have audited in Knoxville — including Anthony's Hughes Tree & Stump Grinding and Tree Service Dener Vasquez — has at least their primary category set. This is the most critical gap we have found across all our audits. If the owner of Voluntrees does only one thing after watching this audit, it should be setting their primary category to "Tree service." That one change alone could produce a noticeable improvement in visibility.

Voluntrees' review velocity is decent — they have some reviews coming in — but we would recommend aiming for at least 2–3 new Google reviews per week. Google weights recent, consistent reviews more heavily than total count. As context, we audited a plumbing company in Knoxville with over 800 reviews that was being outranked by a competitor with only 56, simply because the competitor's reviews were more recent and consistent. Velocity matters more than volume.

Their photos look good — diverse types showing real work, and they have a solid quantity. Geotagging those photos with GPS coordinates from specific job sites could help reinforce geographic relevance, especially if Voluntrees wants to target specific neighborhoods in the Knoxville area.

The services section is empty. Google allows up to 99 services, and we recommend loading at least 30 with descriptions for the top 20. Without services listed, Voluntrees cannot be matched to specific searches like "tree pruning Knoxville" or "stump removal near me." Every service added is a new keyword Google can use to show the business to relevant searchers.

The overall GBP profile is far from complete. Voluntrees is missing a booking link, a website link on the profile, Q&A / FAQ entries, and likely many of the standard setup questions Google asks. The profile does show a phone number, but that is not enough. Adding a booking link or "get an estimate" link would capture leads directly from Google without visitors even needing to navigate to the website. Taking 10–15 minutes to answer every question Google asks during profile setup is one of the simplest things Voluntrees can do to improve their trustworthiness in Google's eyes.

Voluntrees Website SEO Review

The Voluntrees website has a significant title tag issue. The current title tag simply reads "Voluntrees" — just the business name with no keyword or location. The title tag is one of the strongest on-page ranking signals, and it is the first thing Google reads to understand what the page is about. A proper title tag should include the primary keyword, the city, and the business name. Something like "BEST Tree Service Knoxville TN – Voluntrees | Tree Removal & Trimming near me" would send a dramatically stronger relevance signal to Google.

The H1 tag has the same problem. It should include "Tree Service" and "Knoxville" to tell both Google and visitors what the business does and where. Right now, Voluntrees is essentially asking Google to guess — and Google does not reward guessing.

Voluntrees does not have their business address displayed anywhere on their website. On their GBP, the address uses the format "130E" — and that exact format needs to appear on the website as well. We would recommend adding the full name, address, and phone number to the website footer so it appears on every page, matching the GBP formatting exactly. Alongside the address, embedding a Google Map would send Google another location confirmation signal and help visitors understand the service area.

NAP consistency is foundational for local SEO. Every platform where Voluntrees is listed — GBP, website, Facebook, Yelp, Nextdoor — needs to show the identical name, address, and phone number with the same spelling and abbreviations. Any inconsistency creates uncertainty in Google's algorithm, and that uncertainty costs rankings.

Voluntrees has only 1 indexed page on their website. We recommend a minimum of 30 indexed pages, ideally more. Those pages should include dedicated service pages — tree trimming, tree removal, stump grinding, storm damage cleanup — and area pages targeting specific Knoxville neighborhoods and surrounding towns. Right now, if someone searches "how to prune a tree in Knoxville," Voluntrees has nothing to show. Every missing page is a missed opportunity to capture a customer who is already looking for the exact service they provide.

Voluntrees Technical SEO

Website speed is decent but has room for improvement on mobile. Page speed is a confirmed Google ranking factor, and optimizing the backend code would provide a small but meaningful boost. Common fixes include image compression, lazy loading, and minifying CSS and JavaScript files.

The site has a valid SSL certificate (HTTPS).

Voluntrees does not have LocalBusiness schema markup on their website. Schema packages the business's name, address, phone number, hours, and services in a structured format Google can read instantly. Adding schema removes any ambiguity about who the business is and where they operate. This is a straightforward technical addition that would be one of the first things we would implement.

Voluntrees Citations & Local Listings

Voluntrees has citations on Yelp, Nextdoor, MapQuest, and Facebook. That covers some basics, but the citation profile is thin. Building consistent listings on Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, Foursquare, Yellow Pages, BBB, and tree service-specific directories would strengthen the trust signal Google uses to validate the business. When Google sees the same business information confirmed across multiple trusted platforms, it builds confidence that the listing is legitimate.

What Voluntrees Is Doing Well

Voluntrees does have positives to build on. They rank first for their own business name with no competing brands. Their photos are diverse, real, and show genuine work — no stock images. They have a valid SSL certificate. They have some review activity. And the owner clearly cares about their online presence enough to have a website and GBP set up. The foundation exists — it just needs to be built out properly.

Top Recommendations for Voluntrees

1. Set the GBP category to Tree Service immediately. This is the single most critical fix. Without a category, Google does not know what searches to show Voluntrees for. Setting it to "Tree service" could produce visible ranking improvements within days. This one change is more impactful than anything else on this list.

2. Fix the title tag and H1. Replace "Voluntrees" with a keyword-rich title tag that includes "Tree Service," "Knoxville," and the business name. Do the same for the H1. These are two of the strongest on-page signals Google uses to understand what a page is about, and right now both are essentially blank.

3. Build content from 1 page to 30+. Create dedicated service pages for every type of tree work Voluntrees offers and area pages for the neighborhoods and towns they serve. Each new page is a new opportunity to rank for a specific search query. Going from 1 indexed page to 30 would transform the site from a digital business card into a search engine asset.

Bonus: Add the business address to the website footer using the exact GBP formatting, embed a Google Map, add a booking link and website link to the GBP, load at least 30 services with descriptions for the top 20, complete all GBP profile questions, add LocalBusiness schema, geotag photos, build a review system targeting 2–3 per week, and expand citations to Apple Maps, Bing Places, and BBB.
